Instructions
Pear Mix Preparation
  1. Peel all the pears, slice into small chunks and place into a large pot.
  2. Add the 1.5 cups of sugar into the pot.
  3. Add 2 cups of water into the pot. (just enough water to cover the mix, will depend on size of pears)
  4. Mix the pears, sugar and water thoroughly.
Cooking
  1. Place on the stove & bring to a good boil.
  2. Once boiling, turn the heat down to a medium-to-low boil and continue cooking. This process can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. The goal here is to cook down the pears allowing enough water to evaporate so you have a semi-thick consistency to blend.
  3. Once you have reached the proper consistency (45-60 Minutes), place the pear mix into a blender.
  4. Blend the mixture to your preference of smoothness. Purée if you are looking for a very smooth consistency, roughly 30 seconds in the blender. Or, if you prefer a semi-chunky mix, go lighter on the blending.
  5. Once the blending is complete, pour the pear mix back into the same pot and place back on the stove. (no heat at this point)
  6. Sprinkle the two boxes of JELL-O onto the top of the mixture & mix in thoroughly. *Remember, you don’t add water during this step as if you were trying to make regular JELL-O, just sprinkle on top & mix in.
  7. Turn the heat back on high and watch carefully. When the mix comes back to a boil (which will happen fairly quick, 30-60 seconds in most cases) immediately turn off the heat, cover, and allow cooling.
  8. This spread can be served either warm or chilled. Enjoy!!
Recipe Notes

*Remember when you sprinkle the JELL-O on top of the mix, you aren’t making regular JELL-O, so don’t add water.  Just sprinkle on top and mix.

**Feel free to add your own flare to this recipe by changing up the JELL-O flavor.  Blueberry would be a great choice, especially for PB&J sandwiches!
